Introduce yourself in two lines.
Hello, I'm Cédric Duarri, artistically known as Barruf, a self taught illustrator born in Barcelona and raised in the clouds.
Tell us a little more about you. What do you like? (a color, a song, a movie, food...)
Mi favourite colour is black and I don't really have a favourite song. My movie... probably is Dancer in the Dark with Björk. Food? Whatever I fancy on that exact moment. What I really like is nature and be surrounded by animals.
Where does your passion for art come from?
I don't really know where it comes from, I might have it since I was born, although I haven't been aware of it until now. What I do know is that creating is not only a passion, but an addiction as well.
Ask yourself a question and then answer it.
- Why not?
Is there any Camaloon artist that you like?
Camaloon has a long list of artists and I like them all, but I would like to point out:
Terry Fan, Ali Gulec, Nika Martinez, Mª José Da Luz, Elisabeth Fredriksson, Mat Miller, Leah Flores and VessDSign.
How would you describe your style?
I wouldn't really know how to describe my style, since I like to approach different tangents and keep evolving every day. They do have two common points. Firstly, all of them are thoroughly detailed - but without getting into a hyper-realistic style - and secondly, animals are the main focus in my artworks (humanised and with a slight touch of humour). And sometimes I use structures or abstracts ornaments inspired by biological elements.
I enjoy drawing with pens and fountain pens, as well as using my Tablet; and above all, mixing different tools, whether they are traditional or digital.
Who is your favourite artist? - Whether is famous or not.
It doesn't matter how many times I think about it, I always end up believing that cave paintings are the best... They're anonymous, but I always felt attracted to their simplicity, intentionality and warmness by only using natural pigments and fingers.
Tell us about your artworks on Camaloon.
Up until this moment, I uploaded my dog illustration series, but I will gradually update my gallery with illustrations, abstracts, patterns and assorted designs.
We would love to hear an anecdote of yours!
Well... I have plenty of anecdotes.
There is this time when I went to the bathroom to trim my beard off a little, but my shaving machine was nowhere to be found, and I spent more than two hours like a fool, trying to find it. I was going nuts because I couldn't find it anywhere. Worried, puzzled and thirsty, I went into the kitchen to get me a beer, and imagine how surprised I was when I found that the shaving machine had been inside the fridge all the time, fresh and ready to be consumed.
How would you define Camaloon?
For me, Camaloon is a platform that brings lots of international independent artists closer to their audience; offering them the opportunity to buy a great assortment of high quality products with an enormous number of designs.
No more seeing everybody wearing the same t-shirt!
