The creator of Maderfackards reveals herself.

Introduce yourself in two lines

Hello! I'm Júlia Solans, graphic illustrator and currently living in Barcelona.

Tell us about your favourite things (colour, song, film, food...)

I like lots of stuff! Especially the daily ones. Those that you don't even realise they're there. I also dislike lots of things, like the fact that it doesn't exist such a thing as an umbrella integrated on our garments so we aren't caught off-guard when it starts to rain. Or an anti bad mood people radar.

Where does your passion for art come from?

I completely ignore it. I don't consider myself as an artist, but a communicator. I like to be able to explain all those things that I feel as a critical thought of what surrounds me.

Ask yourself a question, then answer it.

It was my birthday a few days ago, so: - How are you holding up your 33? + Pretty good, actually. It is a good age to resurrect, like the phoenix.

Is there any other Camaloon artist that you like?

Tons. I'm a dork for Amaia Arrazola's work. <3

How would you describe your style?

Half punk half naif. Images and words never go separately on my illustrations. I can't help to use illustration as a method to express myself. Also, I use it to bother people and to make them laugh.

What is maderfackards about?

Maderfackards is a project that I started a few months ago. They are the usual greeting cards, but I gave them my touch. I thought of them as a thing to give when times of break-ups, reproaches, heart-broken situations... Whenever you're pissed off, anyway. If there's something that bores me to death, that's all the cheesy things that don't let you think. More info on:

Tell us about your creations on Camaloon.

I uploaded an image for a smartphone case that I found very useful when travelling on the subway. You can read this statement: 'I don't give a damn about your life. Please, speak quietly'. :)

The project that makes your prouder.

All the ones that are about to come! I'm proud of all that I've done until now, but I know there's still a long way to go.

Tell us a funny story about you or your work.

I can tell you how hard it is to be autonomous in this country. Every month you pay a savage quote of 260€ whether you have incomes or not. Every trimester you have to declare your taxes and of course, you have to pay in advance what your clients still own you. Maybe this is a sad funny story.

What is Camaloon for you?

A giant market of talent and creativity.

Thanks Camaloon team. You're cool!
